Brief Summary

TITLE  A CLINICAL STUDY OF CHARAKOKTA TEJOVATYADI GHRUT IN THE MANAGEMENT OF TAMAKA SHWASA W.S.R. TO BRONCHIAL ASTHMA

INTRODUCTION  Shwasa word is used to denote respiration and exchange of air in the body The word Shwasa is used for both physiological and pathological conditions Tamaka Shwasa is a chronic respiratory disorder described in Ayurvedic classics closely correlated with Bronchial Asthma in modern medicine It is one of the five types of Shwasa Roga respiratory diseases Tamaka Shwasa is primarily caused by the vitiation of Vata and Kapha doshas leading to obstruction in the respiratory channels Pranavaha Srotas Resulting in difficulty in breathing wheezing and a sense of chest tightness It is typically characterised by recurrent attacks of breathlessness especially worsened at night and early morning

NEED OF RESEARCH Indian study on epidemiology of asthma respiratory symptoms and chronic bronchitis in adults estimated that national burden of asthma at 17.23 million of population with an overall prevalence of 2.05 percent There are many drugs in modern medicine which do have potent bronchodilators and antispasmodic effect but none of them has got a curative potential and they are also required to be given for a very long duration of time On the other hand prolonged use of these drugs is not good for overall health as they have many adverse effects with systemic manifestations The need of some safe and potential ideal anti-asthmatic drug is always felt by medical fraternity. So the present study has been planned to assess the anti-asthmatic effect of Tejovatyadi Ghrut LAKSHANA
