Brief Summary   The ageing population in India is increasing, leading to a rise in health and mental health problems  among the elderly. Depression is a common but underdiagnosed condition in geriatrics, especially in rural areas where social isolation and poor access to healthcare prevail. It greatly affects their quality of life .
The purpose of this study is to assess the prevalence of depression and to assess the quality of life among geriatric population in a rural area of Western Uttar Pradesh, to help plan appropriate community-based health interventions.
