Brief Summary   A debilitating complication of diabetes mellitus is diabetic ulcer, which leads to increased overall morbidity in patients. This complication may be prevented, as the inciting factor is most often minor trauma. Early identification of these cutaneous injuries also can lead to improved outcomes while decreasing the risk of progression. Patients with diabetes mellitus have a total lifetime risk of a diabetic foot ulcer complication as high as 25 percentage. This activity reviews the evaluation and management of diabetic ulcers and the role of interprofessional team members in collaborating to provide well-coordinated care and enhance patient outcomes.
According to the definition of Dushta Vrana, Diabetic ulcer can be corelated easily with Dushta Vrana. Acharya Sushruta mentioned many therapies for healing of Dushta Vrana. i.e. for its Shodhana and Ropana also. Therefore, Diabetic wound can be treated as per the guidelines of Acharya Sushruta given for the healing of Dushta Vrana.
In Vrana Shodhana Ropana Vidhi Yogaratnakara stated that Sariva (Hemidesmus indicus) also known as Anantamula or Ananta root lepa is Sarva vrana vishodhana. Sariva has Madhura and Tikta Rasa, Madhura Vipaka, Guru and Snigdha guna and Tridoshahara action mainlt Kapha Pitta hara. Due to its phytochemical constitution, it is Demulcent also. Therefore, it seems to be helpful for Vrana Shodhana and Ropana. Therefore, it is of prime interest to observe whether Sarivamoola Kalka Lepa is effective in Wound healing in diabetic ulcers as it has large prevalence in India. If yes then how? Hence the topic  Evaluation of Add on Effect of Sarivamoola Lep in Dushta Vrana with Special Reference to Diabetic Ulcer – Rct. Is selected for research.
