Chittodvega is a Manasa Vikara and seen due to vitiation of Rajas and Tamas described by Charaka. The etymological derivation of the term seems to be anxious state of the mind i.e, Anavastita Chetasa and it is one of Vataja Nanatmaja Vikara, also mentioned as Poorvaroopa of Unmada
Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is a persistent irrational fear of activities or social interaction in the presence of other people. The individual is afraid of his or her own actions being viewed by others critically resulting in embarrassment. It is least investigated and most misunderstood.
The Global prevalence of Social Anxiety varies across from a range of 22.9-57.6%. In an international community survey across 13 different countries, magnitude of SAD was 4% and prevalence was higher for females 8% than for males 6.1%,
In ayurveda, get explanation about Dravya and Adravyabhuta Chikitsa for diseases related to Sharira and Manas, Satwavajaya Chikitsa is one among Trividha Chikitsa, it helps in restraining the Manas ie, Manonigraha from Ahita Arthas, In Charaka Samhita Dhiarya has been mentioned as one of Satwavajaya chikitsa to potentiate Satwa to subdue the exaggerated Tamas, Rajas by boosting confidence, assurance, determination and maintainance of mental balance even under stress
Being the 3rd most common mental health disorder after depression and alcohol abuse, This problem among adolescents needs cost effective, drugless therapy. Hence clinical study is to be conducted to know the effect of Dhairya Chikitsa in management of Chittodvega.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Chittodvega is one among the Manovikaras and is first explained by Acharya Charaka in Vimana Sthana 6/5.
Acharya Sushruta described Udvega as Poorvaroopa of Unmada and one among the symptoms of Bhutabhisangaja Jwara.
Acharya Dalhana described Chittodvega while defining the Shoka i.e. Putradi viyoge
chittodvega in Sushruta Samhita Sutra Sthana 1/25(3).
There is reference of Chittopaplava in Ashtanga Hridaya Nidana Sthana 6/2-3.
Satwavajaya Chikitsa is one among Trividha Aushada explained by Charaka Acharya in Sutra Sthana 11/54 and 1/58 and Vagbhata Acharya in Sutra Sthana 1/26.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
AIM
To find cost effective therapy in the management of Social Anxiety (Chittodvega).
OBJECTIVES
To evaluate the effect of Dhairya Chikitsa in management of Social Anxiety (Chittodvega).
To understand the concept of Satwavajaya Chikitsa and to study the influence of Dhairya Chikitsa in Social Anxiety (Chittodvega).
HYPOTHESIS
Ho There is no statistically significant effect of Dhairya Chikitsa in Social Anxiety (Chittodvega).
H1 There is statistically significant effect of Dhairya Chikitsa in Social Anxiety (Chittodvega)
PROCEDURE
Minimum of 30 research participants are selected for the study are given Satwavajaya Chikitsa.
Satwavajaya Chikitsa is designed based on classical reference and modern literature.
Those who are fulfilling diagnostic criteria will be given Satwavajaya Chikitsa for 30 minutes, in the form of Dhairya Chikitsa, once in a week for 30 days.
STUDY DURATION: 30 days.
OBSERVATION PERIOD
Assessment will be done by scoring the gradations on 1st day, later on 15th day to assess the progress of disease and on 30th day including one performance/activity.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Diagnosis and assessment of signs and symptoms of the condition will be assessed according to Kutcher’s Generalized Social anxiety disorder scale for adolescents (K-GSADS-A).
