Use of smartphones has permeated every aspect of our daily lives. Smartphone serves not only the portable function of a phone, but also thousands of mobile applications with available internet. There are many benefits of smartphone technology, including accessibility of information, ability to contact others immediately, increased feelings of connectedness and social interactions. But the excessive use of smartphone has become a significant social issue with growing recognition of smartphone. Recently it has been reported that internet-based activities such as gaming, chatting and obscenity have been showing similar level of addiction as those of drug and substance use.The concept of Smriti (memory) has been explained in various classical texts in many different aspects. The knowledge of previously experienced object is Smriti. The term Smriti denotes higher intellectual faculties including memory, cognition, past sense perception, mastery in higher sciences. According to Prakriti, Vataprakriti individuals shows Alpasmriti and Shrutagrahi, Pittaprakriti are Medhavi, Nipunamathi and Panditha whereas Kaphaprakriti individuals are Chiragrahi and Smritiman Hence smartphone usage is showing some detrimental effect in human life, through this study we are making an attempt to understand the relationship between smartphone usage and Smriti(memory).
