Brief Summary

Title:- Effect of neuro muscular exercise on knee joint alignment, joint position, muscle performance among young adults with hyper extended knee-An experimental study
Knee hyperextension (genu recurvatum) occurs when the knee extends beyond its normal range of motion. It is uncommon in the general population but more frequently seen in athletes and in individuals with specific medical conditions.A cross-sectional survey found 38% of participants had flexibility limitations, with 90% of them showing knee hyperextension. In total knee arthroplasty (TKA) cases, preoperative genu recurvatum is present in 1%–3.9% of patients. Patients with >5° hyperextension undergoing ACL reconstruction (using hamstring tendon autografts) face higher failure rates compared to those with less hyperextension.
The condition involves pathoanatomical structures including the ACL, PCL, MCL and the posterolateral corner. Factors influencing knee stability include muscle performance, joint alignment and proprioception. Weak quadriceps, hamstring- quadriceps imbalance contribute to instability, while hyperextension strains ligaments and the posterior capsule.Patients with hyper extended knee of age between 18 to 25years. Were divided in two groups, Group A Neuro muscular exercises group and Group B controlgroup. The treatment was given 3 days per week for 8 weeks. evaluation of joint angle, evaluation of joint postion sense and evaluation of hamstring and calf strength used as outcome measures. The patient will be screened on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria andtheir demographic data will be taken by an assessment Performa. Prior to theCommencement of the study, detailed procedure of the study will be explained to the Patients and a signed informed consent form will be taken from them. Then the Patient will be randomly assigned to a 8-week intervention protocol and allocated randomly to Group A and Group B. The subjects will be allocatedto any of the two groups by random allocation using chit method. The therapist will measure joint angle, joint position and muscle strength error before the interventionon the first day of the Treatment.
