Primary Outcome
Outcome  TimePoints
Prevalence estimates of anemia in the study population.
Identification of high-risk groups (e.g., underweight students, poor dietary habits).
Gaps in awareness about AMB and actionable recommendations for campus interventions.

single time point

Secondary Outcome
Outcome  TimePoints
The secondary outcomes of this study include assessing the association between anemia status and Body Mass Index (BMI) by correlating hemoglobin levels with anthropometric measurements taken at enrollment. Another key outcome is the evaluation of dietary habits and their relationship with anemia, using a structured questionnaire focusing on the intake of iron- and folic acid-rich foods, meal frequency, and supplementation practices. Additionally, the study aims to explore participants’ awareness and perceptions regarding the Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) program through both quantitative surveys and qualitative insights. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) will further help identify barriers to anemia prevention and engagement with AMB activities. These qualitative data will be analyzed thematically using ATLAS.ti to provide contextual understanding of behavioral and informational gaps in anemia control efforts among university students.  Single time point – at the time of enrollment (Day 0)

Brief Summary   This study aims to assess the prevalence of anemia and its associated nutritional and behavioural determinants among female students aged 18-45 yeras at Jamshedpur Women’s University , Jharkhand. Using a cross sectional mixed method design, hemoglobin levels will be measured through a finger prick test using a disital hemoglobinometer and Body Mass Index (BMI) will be calculated based on anthropometric meausrements. A structured questionnaire will capture dietary patterns , iron and folic acid supplememtation , and awareness of the Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) program.
Additionally, Focus Group Discussion (FGDs) will explore students perceptions , barriers to anemia prevention and engagement with AMB initiatives. The findings will help identify high risk sub groups and inform context specific strategies to improve anemia awareness , early screening and nutritional practices among young women in higher education settings.
