Brief Summary

The current study investigates how personal values influence the relationship between father–son dynamics and grit among male emerging adults in India. While previous research has highlighted the importance of paternal involvement in emotional development, resilience, and value formation, few studies have examined how these factors operate together in shaping young men’s long-term perseverance and motivation. Despite the recognized importance of grit in helping individuals navigate academic, social, and career challenges, its developmental foundations particularly in familial relationships and value systems remain underexplored. This study addresses that gap by examining how the quality of the father–son relationship relates to grit, and whether this link is mediated by the individual’s personal value structure. Given the cultural context of India, where family expectations are tightly interwoven with individual aspirations, this study also considers how sociodemographic factors may influence these associations. By focusing on this population and this triadic framework, the study aims to offer a deeper understanding of how internal motivations and relational experiences interact to shape psychological strengths relevant to young adulthood.
