Brief Summary
|
| NEED FOR THE STUDY: I have found many cases of lichen planus , where patient immediately takes Conventional treatment for recovery. After taking conventional medicines and steroids, a Lot of patient suffers from adverse side effects. So, I want to conduct Research on lichen planus with diiffrent approach of prescription. | | REVIEW OF LITERATURE INTRODUCTION – Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the skin and mucosal surfaces. Lichen planus (LP) is a pruritic disease affecting the skin, mucous membranes and hair follicles. The characteristic primary lesions are tiny, shiny, violaceous, flat-topped, polygonal papules. Surface shows scant adherent scales. Koebner phenomenon may occur. | Lichen planus is an idiopathic papulosquamous disorder characterized by itchy pink to purple papules and plaques, occurring primarily on the scalp, extrimities , nails and mucous membranes. The term lichenoid is applied to eruptions that clinically resemble lichen planus or have a similar histology, in particular a heavy lymphocytic infiltrate immediately under the epidermis , the basal layer of which suffers the most damage. | CLINICAL FEATURES – Shiny, flat-topped, violaceous, polygonal papules of varying size, clustered around on the wristIrregularly linear or reticulate white striae (Wickham’s) are often seen in the papules. The lesions are usually itchy sometimes intensely so, but are occasionally asymptomatic. The inflammation usually subsides within 2 years and is commonly followed by post-inflammatory pigmentation . Mucosal lichen planus in form of whitish papular lesions, linearly disposed, may crisscross to form a lacy pattern, coalescence of papules may result in plaque formation. It accompanies cutaneous disease in about 50% of patients, and is common alone. The primary lesions are 2 to 10mm flat-topped papules with an irregular ,angulated border (purplr polygonal papules ). New lesions are pink to white ,but over time they become purple and sharply defined.New lesions may develop in areas of injury (kobner’s phenomenon ). Distribution – Usually flexor areas are more affected. In males the genitals may also be involved in about 10% of patients Variants • Persistent hypertrophic lesions, usually on the lower legs | Homoeopathic Management – | Homoeopathy treatment focus on the root cause, the triggering factors the pathological changes and the person as a whole. This is done by detailed medical history of the patient. The physical signs and symptoms appear because of disturbed vital functions either from external impressions having a depressing effect and the consequent reaction of the vital force | OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY Objectives – | To compare the prescription based on J.T.Kent Homoeopathic materia medica ,allen’s keynote materia medica and on lilenthal therapeutics. | |
