Brief Summary

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. They include coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease, rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

CVDs remain the leading cause of disease burden in the world, 6.2 million

death   occurring between the age of 30 to 70 years in 2019.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular vascular diseases (ASCVDs) continue to be one of the top causes of death globally, despite tremendous advancements in their prevention and treatment. A family history of ASCVDs, age, obesity, hypertension, hypercholesteremia, and diabetes are established risk factors for ASCVDs.

ASCVD Risk score can be calculated by using age, sex. Race, SBP, DBP, TC, HDL, LDL

When forecasting cardiovascular events, the TyG index has been used as a stand-in marker. TyG index was associated with  progression of carotid arterial stenosis, carotid artery plaques , arterial stiffness. TyG index influenced the severity of CVD. TyG index could predict a risk of multi-vessel lesion.Conversely, the Framingham risk score (FRS) is a tool that can forecast the likelihood of subsequent cardiovascular events based on the existence or lack of specific risk factors.
