Brief Summary
|
This observational study aims to examine how work engagement and emotional intelligence affect compassion fatigue among clinical psychologists in India, addressing the growing demand and workload stress in the profession due to a significant mental health burden and a shortage of qualified professionals. Conducted at the Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), MAHE, from February 2025 to March 2026, the study will recruit 81 clinical psychologists (aged 24 to 55) from various institutions using purposive and snowball sampling, with strict inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure a representative sample. Data will be collected via a sociodemographic sheet and three validated self report instruments namely the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), the Compassion Fatigue Short Scale (CFSS), and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES), each with established reliability and validity. After obtaining ethical approvals, participants will complete the questionnaires online, and data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, multiple regression, and two way ANOVA in JAMOVI, to explore the relationships and interactions between emotional intelligence, work engagement, and compassion fatigue, ultimately aiming to inform strategies for supporting the well being of clinical psychologists and enhancing treatment quality. |
