Osteoarthritis (OA) also called as an Osteoarthrosis or degenerative joint disease, it is the most common form of chronic disorder of synovial joints. In patients with OA knee, pain would be the earliest symptom, and weakness in the quadriceps muscle compared to healthy persons. Quadriceps muscle weakness may contribute to the substantial functional deficit that occur with disease progression. This study aims to study the impact of Blood flow restriction technique and Muscle Energy Technique on on isokinetic strength of Quadricep Muscle in knee Osteoarthritis Patients. GROUP 1 Autogenic Inhibition Technique Used Post Isometric Relaxation Protocol Position Prone, hip flexed to 90° Isometric contraction of agonist muscle (knee flexors) at 20% strength Hold for 5 seconds 5 seconds relaxation 2 sets of 5 reps Frequency 5 sessions per week for 8 weeks Additional Modalities Hot Moist Pack 15 mins over knee Interferential Therapy (IFT) 4 pole method, 20 mins Ultrasound Therapy 1 MHz, 1.5 W per cm², continuous mode, 5 cm transducer GROUP 2 Reciprocal Inhibition Technique Used Reciprocal Inhibition Stretching Protocol Position Prone, hip flexed to 90° Isometric contraction of antagonist muscle (likely knee extensors) at 20% strength Hold for 5 seconds, 5 seconds relaxation 2 sets of 5 reps Frequency 5 sessions per week for 8 weeks Additional Modalities Hot Moist Pack 15 mins over knee Interferential Therapy (IFT) 4 pole method, 20 mins Ultrasound Therapy 1 MHz, 1.5 W per cm², continuous mode, 5 cm transducer GROUP 3 Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Technique Technique Used BFR with Low-Load Resistance Training Protocol Application of pneumatic cuff proximally to the target muscle Pressure induces partial arterial and full venous occlusion Resistance exercises at 20–30 percentage of 1RM, 15–30 reps, 30second rest between sets Frequency 5 sessions per week for 8 weeks Additional Modalities Hot Moist Pack 15 mins over knee Interferential Therapy (IFT) 4-pole method, 20 mins Ultrasound Therapy 1 MHz, 1.5 W per cm², continuous mode, 5 cm transducer Common Interventions in All Group Hot Moist Pack Applied for 15 minutes to the affected knee Interferential Therapy (IFT) Four-pole vector method, 20 minutes Ultrasound Therapy Continuous 1 MHz US at 1.5 W per cm² over knee joint |
