Brief Summary

This cross-sectional study investigates the relationship between hip muscle strength balance—specifically the ratio of hip abductors to adductors—and pelvic shift during single-leg stance in middle-aged adults (40–50 years). Hip muscles play a critical role in maintaining pelvic stability and controlling the line of gravity, especially during dynamic activities such as standing on one leg. Weakness or imbalance in these muscles can affect posture and contribute to lateral pelvic shifts, potentially leading to functional impairments or discomfort. The study will use a handheld dynamometer to assess hip muscle strength and a custom-built pelvic shift analyzer to evaluate medial-lateral and vertical line-of-gravity (LOG) shifts. A total of 30 participants will be assessed as part of a pilot study. By analyzing the correlation between muscle strength ratios and pelvic alignment, this research aims to provide insight into musculoskeletal health in middle age and inform early physiotherapy interventions.
