Brief Summary
|
Ayurveda gives immense importance to physical as well as mental well being and has established psychosomatic relationship very clearly. Satva,Raja,Tama are three mental attributes linked to Pitta,Vata,Kapha respectively .Manifestation of mental illness is caused due to imbalance of Raja and Tama ,these are called manas doshas .These are factors responsible for various behavioral patterns of human being according to predominance of gunas.Emotional intelligence refers to the abilities of recognizing and regulating emotions in oneself and others .Emotional intelligence is observed when a person demonstrates the competencies that constitutes self awareness ,self management ,social awareness .,and social skills at appropriate times and ways in sufficient frequencies to be effective in the situation.
younger generation of the age 18-30 years is facing tough situations like loneliness, depression ,anxiety and so on. Emotional intelligence is important for students because it helps them care for themselves and others .Through strengthening of their skills ,learners can better assess their own needs ,care for others ,demonstrate respect for peers and elders, limiting conflict in learning environment. A validated questionnaire for assessment of Sushrutokta mental attributes(Satva,Raja,Tama) and EIS -emotional intelligence scale (designed and standardized by Anukool Hyde ,Sanjyot Pethe , Upindar Dhar) will help to reach the conclusion.
