Brief Summary
|
In 159 hypertensive individuals the aim of the study is to find out risk of having peripheral arterial diseases in which they have different morbidities like diabetes, heart failure, obesity, chronic kidney disease, respiratory diseases, smokers. Ankle brachial index is a simple non invasive test that measures blood pressure of lower extremity to upper extremity. patient will be selected on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria. the informed concent of participants will be obtained explaining the procedure of the study. individuals having different levels of morbidities in which the individual may have single morbidity or more than one morbidity the values of ABI will be measured . Individuals having different levels of morbidity in which the individual may have single morbidity or more than one morbidity the value of ABI will be measured. Ankle brachial index will be determined from blood pressure measurement in both upper limb and ankle with subject in supine/ Sitting position. Systolic blood pressure from the brachial artery in the cubital fossa is measured using a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope and in the lower limb systolic blood pressure from the posterior tibial artery or dorsalis pedis artery is measured with scope detection by placing a blood pressure cuff just about the malleoli at the ankle. The ABI calculation is obtained by the ratio of higher systolic blood pressure of ankle to the higher systolic blood pressure of arm. For three times the measurement is taken from single individual. And the lowest values of ABI will be going to be considered as the final value. |
