Brief Summary
|
| BRIEF RESUME OF INTENDED WORK INTRODUCTION Cardiac rehabilitation is a tailored all-encompassing program designed to safeguard restore and enhance an individuals physical emotional social and occupational well-being. It focuses on patient education encouraging healthy behavior changes and incorporating exercise training all with the goal of improving secondary prevention outcomes for those with cardiovascular disease. This program aids in managing the condition, lowering the risk of future heart problems and enhancing the overall quality of life. Cardiac rehabilitation stabilizes, slows, and may even reverse the progression of atherosclerosis in cardiac diseases, leading to improved morbidity, mortality rates and overall health-related quality of life. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the primary cause of death worldwide, claiming approximately 17.9 million lives annually. This category encompasses various disorders affecting the heart and blood vessels, including coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, rheumatic heart disease, and other related conditions. According to the World Health Organization, India is responsible for one-fifth of global cardiovascular disease deaths, particularly affecting the younger population. The Global Burden of Disease study indicates that the age-standardized CVD death rate in India is 272 per 100,000 people, significantly higher than the global average of 235 per 100,000. [2]
