Brief Summary
|
Pandu is a rasa pradoshaj vikar, it is due to excessive exacerbations of three doshas especially pitta afflicts dhatus as a result complexion, strength, unctuousness and other property also get too much diminished due to morbidity of dosha and dushya and then blood, fat and ojas get exceedingly reduced leading to development of Pandu roga. Symptoms of Pandu roga include Panduta, shwasa, bhrama, gauravata, aruchi, saad and nidralu. Pandu is a symptom as well as a disease and mostly resembles with Anaemia of modern science. Anaemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the haemoglobin concentration within them is lower than normal. Haemoglobin is needed to carry oxygen and if you have too few or abnormal red blood cells, or not enough Haemoglobin, there will be a decreased capacity of the blood to carry oxygen to the body tissues. This results in symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, dizziness and shortness of breath. Iron deficiency anaemia is the most common form of anaemia in the world, including India. It arises when the balance of iron intake, iron stores, and the bodys loss of iron are insufficient to fully support the production of erythrocytes. It is a health problem that affects major portions of the population in underdeveloped countries. The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors study 2013 reported that iron deficiency is the most significant contributor to the onset of anaemia. As per the WHO report 2001, there are about two billion anaemia cases globally, of which half is iron-deficiency anaemia IDA affecting 30 percent of the population worldwide. The present study aims to evaluate the comparative effect of Ashtadashang Lauha and Dhatri Lauha in the improvement of S. ferritin levels and haemoglobin levels, along with reduction in the symptoms of Pandu roga. The total number of patients is 62, 31 in each group. In Group A, Ashtadashang Lauha will be administered in a dose of 500 mg twice daily one hour after meals with Madhu. In Group B, Dhatri Lauha will be administered in a dose of 500 mg twice daily one hour after meals with Madhu. The design of the study is a single-centered, open label, randomized, comparative and interventional study. |
