| Details |
1. Patients having classical feature of darunaka like twakasphutan (Scaling of scalp), Kandu (itching), keshachyuti (loss of hair), and pitika on the scalp. Will be included.
2. Patients of any gender in the age group of 18 to 60yrs will be included.
3. Patients who are willing to participate and give written informed consent.
4. Patients not using any tipical treatment for dandruff for past 1 month. |

Brief Summary
|
The prevalence of dandruff (Pityriasis capititis) is about -50% among the general population. In South Asia region has reported a greater prevalence of 60.1%.
In recent years there has been a considerable increase in the incidence of skin problems due to various reasons like poor sanitation and hygiene condition, population etc. Dandruff (pityriasis capititis) is one of the Kshudra roga/Shiro rog which affecting all the age group of population. It is a common cosmetic problem in today’s era. patients having fungal infection, treating with modern medicine, even through patients get relief but after stopping treatment disease reappears. The increase in prevalence of multiple drug resistance has slowed down the development of new synthetic antifungal drugs, antibacterial drugs and has necessitated the search for new antifungals & antibacterial from herbal sources. Antifungal & antibacterial drugs have many drawbacks, recurrence of disease is very common therefore we need to discover antifungal & antibacterial activity in herbal medicine.
To explore Anti-microbial property of Priyala (Buchanania lanzan Spreng), Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn.), Kushta (Sassurea lappa C. B. Clarke), Masha (Vigna mungo), Sarsapa (Brassica campestris koch) Lepa in clinical study, it is necessitated to evaluate its antimicrobial activity (In-vitro).
Priyala (Buchanania lanzan Spreng), Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn.), Kushta (Sassurea lappa C. B. Clarke) Masha (Vinga mungo), Sarsapa (Brassica campestris koch) Lepa in Astang sangrah and Hriday is said to be effective in darunaka. Pre- clinical & Clinical studies are still needed to be done, So this study is to evaluate Pharmacognostical, Antimicrobial & Clinical efficacy of Priyala (Buchanania lanzan Spreng), Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn.), Kushta (Sassurea lappa C. B. Clarke), Masha (Vigna mungo), Sarsapa (Brassica campestris koch) Lepa in the management of Darunaka (Pityriasis capitis).
Antimicrobial Study of Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn.) has already been done. |
