Brief Summary
The aim of this study is to examine the correlation of Flexible Flat Foot with Balance and Risk of Injury among young recreational badminton players. Participants with flexible flat foot who have been playing badminton since long and are willing to participate in the study will be recruited for the observational study. Their demographic details will be filled in the form along with the consent form. Subjects will be assessed for flexible flat foot using Navicular drop test(NDT) and Jack toe rising test. Participants with Fixed flat foot or any other foot deformity will not be included in the study. Foot print will be taken using ink blot method to assess the medial arch of foot.
Participants static balance will be assessed using Singe Leg Stance test and Dynamic balance will be assessed using Star Excursion Balance Test(SEBT). Risk of Injury will be assessed using the OSLO questionnaire. Outcome of the tests performed will be noted. This will be marked as Group A.
Participants from healthy human population having flexible flat foot but not actively engaged in any sports activity of similar age group will be recruited for Group B and will be assessed using same tests i.e., NDT, jack toe rising test, foot print followed by Static Balance Test, Dynamic Balance Test|
Both the groups will have 20 participants each forming a total sample size of 40 participants for the trial.
Data recorded from each group will be analyzed using the SPSS software.
Outcome will be used to correlate the effect of flexible flat foot on static and dynamic balance on badminton players and non athletes. It will also be used to find the effect of flexible flat foot on risk of injury of badminton players.
The research seeks to study the effect of foot posture on athletes aiming to support future researches.
