Parents could be Both the father and mother of the adolescent who died by suicide who received a definite verdict of suicide.
Those who speak Malayalam or English
Those who are willing to take part in the study
Siblings in this study are The oldest sibling of the adolescent who died by suicide
With parental consent
those who are Above 15 years of age
Grandparents/second degree relatives Grandparents who lived with adolescent who died by suicide
Any paternal/maternal uncles or aunts or cousins who were close to the adolescent, recognized by parents
Above the age of 18
Significant others in this study are Neighbours/ family friends/Romantic partner or any other individuals who can give valuable data about the adolescent who died by suicide, Recognised by parents
Above 18 years of age
School Counsellor in this study means The mental health professional at the school who has personally known the adolescent who died by suicide.
Health Professional in this study Either physician/mental health professional (psychiatrist, psychologist or psychiatric social workers) the adolescent approached for treatment and support
In case of more than one professional, the most appropriate one will be considered based on the number of follow-up visits
Teacher in this study Most preferably the person who was in charge of the class the adolescent studied
Or any other teacher in the school who were close with the adolescent who recognized by peers/parents
Police Officer in this study those who were In charge of the particular case to investigate
or Part of the investigation team

Identification of the stressors, triggers, and circumstances of adolescent suicides, including patterns of pre-suicidal behaviors and how they progress to suicidal behavior, can help to develop appropriate prevention strategies.

This is a qualitative psychological autopsy study to understand adolescent suicide in Wayanad district with the objectives to understand the risk, triggers, warning signs and pre-suicidal behavior of adolescents who lost to suicide in a multi-stakeholder perspective also the study explores the living experiences of their family members including their coping patterns and social support networks. it also looks into community stakeholders viewpoint regarding the sociocultural influences on adolescent suicide. |
