Brief Summary

Despite tremendous efforts by healthcare professionals to promote oral health in society, the gap between oral health knowledge and practices remains. The main reason behind this is the low level of awareness regarding oral health, and oral hygiene. Oral health literacy is a cornerstone of improving the utilization of oral health care by the population. Every individual should acquire a thorough knowledge of oral health and hygiene practices for better upliftment of one’s oral health.

Domestic e-commerce deliveries rely on national postal services, and the postal service workers are the ones who handle home delivery for a considerable number of customers. These workers are commonly affected due to cargo handling, repetitive movements, vibration, and awkward postures during the workday and they differ from the different levels of designations of employees. Given the significant economic importance of their activities, it is imperative to obtain a better understanding of the oral health literacy level among different designations of postal employees. A cross‐sectional study will be conducted to assess oral health literacy level and its impact on oral health among the employees of post offices of Udupi taluk.

A modified version of Oral Health Literacy Questionnaire which is translated into Kannada will be used to  assess the level of literacy levels among the Postal employees of Post offices of Udupi taluk.  The age of each postal employee will be recorded and will be given due priority during the recording of information. This is a study which is comparing the oral health quality of life and oral health literacy levels among postal employees with a due focus on differences anticipated and seen between the varying decades (10 years difference) of life of the consented participants, related to age data. Participants will be made aware of knowledge of oral health and oral hygiene practices.
