application of virtual reality
glasses |
Virtual reality is distraction or diversion tool which has been useful in reducing the anxiety , decreasing pain levels and improving patient’s comfort levels during intraoperative periods . Virtual reality reduces procedural anxiety by reducing patient’s attention into the computer generated world , as the vitual reality “ transports†the patient from clinical settings to another “ realityâ€
We will use this glasses for surgery duration upto 1 -1.5 hour. |
| Comparator Agent |
injection midazolam |
Injection midazolam is belongs to group of benzodiazepines. It’s seadtive & anxiolytic property is useful in patients undergoing surgeries under regional anasthesia |

Brief Summary
|
Virtual reality is distraction or diversion tool which has been useful in reducing the anxiety , decreasing pain levels and improving patient’s comfort levels during intraoperative periods . Virtual reality reduces procedural anxiety by reducing patient’s attention into the computer generated world , as the
virtual reality “transports†the patient from clinical settings to another “ realityâ€. Aim : To Assess the comparision of virtual reality glasses versus intravenous injection midazolam on anxiety in patients undergoing surgery under regional anaesthesia. •Study Design : Randomized controlled study. •Study Population : Patients undergoing surgery under regional anaesthesia between 18 – 60 years of age.
•Study Duration : 15 months .
•Duration of Data collection : 12 months .
•Sample Size : 52 (26 in each group) Sampling method : Simple random sampling •The patients will be allocated to respective groups by computer generated random sequence numbers. •V GROUP : Patients in this group will receive the virtual reality glasses. •M GROUP : Patient in this group will receive the midazolam (0.02 mg/kg, maximum:- 2.5 mg) intravenously and is a control group. Anxiety score will be measured preoperatively, intraop and after 15 min, after 30 min. after 45 min after 60 min andpostop
Analysis will be done using appropriate method. |
