Brief Summary

1. Study Design: A cross-sectional study involving 100 female participants aged 18-25, recruited from various colleges using stratified random sampling to ensure diversity.

2. Methodology:

  •  Data Collection:

  1.   Participants self-report their daily screen time, differentiating between academic and non-academic use through the Digital Screen Exposure Questionnaire (DSEQ).

  2. Appetite levels are assessed using the Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (DEBQ).

  3. Dietary intake is evaluated via a 24-hour dietary recall and a food frequency questionnaire.

  4. Anthropometric measurements (weight, height, BMI, waist circumference, and body fat percentage) are collected to evaluate nutritional status.

  • Data Analysis: Statistical analysis will be performed using SPSS software to explore relationships between screen time, appetite, dietary habits, and nutritional status.

3. Expected Outcomes:

  • The study aims to provide insights into how screen time influences appetite and dietary habits, identify patterns associated with poor nutritional status, and inform the development of interventions to promote healthier behaviors among college students.

4. Significance: The findings are expected to contribute to public health knowledge regarding rising obesity rates and poor dietary habits, thereby aiding policy makers and educators in managing screen time for improved nutritional outcomes.

5. Conclusion: This research is anticipated to shed light on the critical intersection of screen time, appetite regulation, and nutritional status in a vulnerable population, ultimately guiding effective strategies for healthier lifestyle choices.

6. References: The document includes references to multiple studies that explore the relationship between screen time, dietary habits, and health outcomes.
