Primary Outcome
|
| Outcome |
TimePoints |
To predict the Intracranial pressure of the patients posted for intracranial
neuro surgery in pre operative room
1. By measuring optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) (millimeter)
2. By measuring the eyeball transverse diameter (ETD) (millimeter)
3. Calculating ONSD: ETD ratio |
Assessed immediately at the time of performing the scan |
|
|
Secondary Outcome
|
| Outcome |
TimePoints |
Correlating the diagnostic accuracy of ONSD & ONSD :
1. ETD ratio with
clinical & radiological parameters of patients posted for intracranial neuro surgery in pre
operative room
2. the ONSD varies from 3.65 mm to 5.17 mm (7)
3. The normal ETD varies from 21 mm to 27 mm. (8)
4. The ONSD/ETD ratio range from 0.1 to 0.23, with a mean ratio of 0.17 |
Assessed immediately at the time of performing the scan |

Brief Summary
|
Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) is a common problem in intracranial neurosurgical patients presenting with mass-occupying lesion and traumatic brain injury, treatment in both elective and emergency cases is directly related to the postoperative outcome. It is most important to predict the status of ICP in the immediate preoperative period for the management of intracranial pressure in intraoperative and postoperative period. The aim of the study is to predict Intracranial pressure by ocular Ultrasound and correlating them with clinical and radiological parameters of patients posted for intracranial neurosurgery patients.Patient fitting the inclusion and exclusion criteria will undergo an ultrasonographic examination; maximum external diameter of Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter and Eyeball transverse diameter will be calculated. The data will be analysed using SPSS Version 20.
