Brief Summary
|
Brief Introduction: Breast milk is like nectar for the child, which has many advantages for both mother and child. Milk production is essential for optimal infant nutrition, since nutrition at this stage has a direct impact on the growth, development and health of not only the newborn but also a healthy life.1 American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breast feeding for the first six months of life.2 Acharya Vagbhat described the importance of Stanya for child. Stanya kshaya is one of the vikruti of stanya. In stanya kshaya there is kshaya due to dhatu kshaya and dushti. Stanyaksaya is a vital problem with increasing prevalence, ranging from 23-63% in western countries and 30-40% in some part of India.5 As far as Modern medicine concern there is no satisfactory drug for Stanya after the delivery of a child. And mother feeding is utmost essential 4 for infant’s initial immunity as well as growth. that’s why in this study Vidarikanda churna with Godugdha is undertaken to evaluate its efficacy in stanyakshaya.
