Intervention / Comparator Agent
Type  Name  Details
Comparator Agent  Dry cupping therapy  Dry cupping therapy is an ancient form of healing where the patient’s skin is suctioned in a specific location using a vacuum without any stabbing or bleeding. It has been noted that cupping therapy stimulates the peripheral nervous system, increase blood flow to paralyzed muscles and skin, lift connective tissue and break adhesions, and remove excess fluids and toxins. Dosage:Two cups on the lower back one on each side of the spine and another on the suprapubic area for 10–15 min for 3 days a week 7 days before the next speculated date of menstruation.
Intervention  Myokinetic Active release of trigger points.   Myokinetic active release technique is a soft tissue release technique where the subject is asked to actively move the tissues while deep tension is applied over the soreness. This will be administered to one group of intervention consisting of 23 female subjects. The main focus will be on three main muscles, that is Quadratus Lumborum, Rectus Abdominis and Gluteus Medius. Dosage: 5 strokes on each side (muscles) 3 days a week 7 days before the next speculated date of menstruation.

Brief Summary   Dysmenorrhea(painful menstruation)has been prevalent as shown by literature review, therefore it was stated that not much of RCTs has been performed in this particular subject area, also there has been documentation done that Dysmenorrhea is related with low back pain as well particularly involving trigger points in Quadratus Lumborum, Rectus Abdominis and Gluteus Medius musculature as both pelvic area and low back muscles are supplied by same nerve root by its autonomous and peripheral parts. This study will be a comparative study between two Physiotherapy techniques, out of both which shows more efficacy in reducing back pain which will eventually impact Dysmenorrhea and increase the quality of life in young females has been aim and objective of the study. If proven otherwise, the results of the study can be informative for other Physiotherapy community and industrial stakeholders which can be implemented on masses ad can putt light on less explored female-based issues, Dysmenorrhea being one of many.
