Brief Summary
|
NEED OF THE STUDY
Nowadays smartphones are widely used in every aspect of life but on contradictory it leads to various problems which has driven to investigate smartphone addiction among young adults. Several musculoskeletal disorders were associated with smartphone addiction, which can also lead to reduced hand grip strength, decreased cervical range of motion and impaired cervical proprioception. To maintain good postural stability and balance control proprioceptive inputs from cervical components along with afferent information from visual and vestibular system are necessary. Furthermore, disturbance of proprioceptive inputs may lead to changes in postural stability and balance control. The effect of smartphone usage on various musculoskeletal disorders including cervical pain, proprioception and hand grip strength was repeatedly investigated in previous literature. In the present study the SAS-SV is used to access the smartphone addiction level. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate correlation of smartphone addiction and balance among young adults.
AIM To study the correlation between smartphone addiction and balance impairment in young adults.
OBJECTIVES 1.To study static balance affection in smartphone addicted individuals. 2.To study dynamic balance affection in smartphone addicted individuals. PROCEDURE
After ethical approval study will be proceeded. All subjects would be screened keeping in mind the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Written consent form will be signed by the individual who will be included in the study. BESS score is used for assessing static balance, before which instruction are given for performing. Y balance test is used for assessing dynamic balance before which purpose of the test is explained and demonstration is done. The collected data would be used for further analysis and interpret outcome of the study.
