Lactation consultations
Lactation consultations refers to training by the investigator which offers postnatal mothers with expert lactation care and assistance during the postnatal period and the training includes importance of breastmilk and its contents and correct position and correct latching and problems of breastfeeding and how to overcome them |
| Intervention |
Peer to peer breastfeeding support groups |
Following training from the investigator a postnatal mother establishes a support group of 5 other postnatal mothers who have similar experiences or issues and the group members offer support to one another as well as guidance on breastfeeding counseling to other members of the group

Brief Summary
|
This study is an experimental study comparing the effectiveness of peer to peer breastfeeding support groups with individual lactation consultations for supporting breastfeeding after birth among 360 primi mother’s (180 in each group) who underwent C section and admitted at postnatal wards in selected tertiary care hospital at Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital and MRC Belagavi Karnataka. The primary outcome measures will be that there will be significant difference in post test latch score after the training |
