Physical activity intervension and media nudges.For the first two months (8 weeks), all participants will receive these prompts. After that, in the third month, the participants (120 people) will be split into two groups. One group (60 people) will stop receiving the prompts, while the other group (60 people) will continue getting them. This approach will help assess whether regular social media prompts improves adherence to the activity breaks over time. Hence, the study duration is three months in total.

1. Participants aged 25 to 60 years (Male and Females).
2. Participants who have a sedentary office desk-job (Spend approximately 70% of work time seated).
3. Participants who have an occupational sedentary time of 6 to 8 hours.
4. Participants willing to incorporate short walking breaks during work hours for the study duration.

Brief Summary
|
The study aims to evaluate the impact of timed walking breaks during work hours on reducing sedentary behaviour among office workers in bangalore, India. This intervention involves hourly walking breaks, totalling 45 minutes per day, to decrease sitting time at work. The primary objective is to measure the reduction in occupational sedentary time. Secondary objectives include assessing its effects on anthropometric measurements, quality of life, cognitive function, and work performance. Additionally, the study will explore the role of social media nudges provided through an mhealth app in improving adherence to the intervention. The need for this study arises from the high levels of sedentary behaviour among Indian office workers, which pose significant health risks. The novelty lies in its focus on the Indian context and the integration of social media through an mhealth app to enhance engagement with the intervention, addressing a gap in existing research on reducing workplace sedentary behaviour in this population. |
