Control group |
No stretching intervention. Participants will maintain their usual sedentary lifestyle. Baseline data such as international physical activity questionnaire assessment, basic demographic information such as age, gender will be gathered, height, weight, sit and reach test, popliteal angle test and straight leg test will be recorded. |
| Intervention |
Dynamic stretching |
Dynamic Stretching:
Involves controlled movements to stretch the hamstrings, performed in sets of 10 repetitions, 3 times per week.
Techniques:
Leg Swings:
Stand next to a wall for balance.
Swing one leg forward and backward in a controlled manner.
Perform 10 swings on each leg.
Hamstring Frankensteins:
Stand tall with feet hip-width apart.
Extend one leg straight in front, reaching the opposite hand toward the foot.
Alternate legs, performing 10 repetitions on each side. Sessions will be conducted three times per week.
All sessions will be monitored by trained personnel to ensure uniform technique
|
| Intervention |
PNF stretching |
PNF Stretching:
Hold-relax with Agonist Contraction:
Similar to Hold-relax technique but with a different final stretch phase.
Relax the muscle group and allow passive stretching.
Contract the opposing muscle group concentrically.
Hold for 30 seconds to increase range of motion (ROM).
This phase induces greater stretch due to reciprocal and autogenic inhibition.
Sessions will be conducted three times per week.
All sessions will be monitored by trained personnel to ensure uniform technique
|
| Intervention |
Static stretching |
Description:
Involves holding a hamstring stretch for 30 seconds, repeated 3 times, with a 10-second rest between stretches.
Performed three times per week.
Technique:
Hamstring Static Stretch:
Sit on the floor with legs extended straight in front.
Slowly lean forward towards toes, keeping knees straight.
Hold the stretch for 30 seconds without causing pain.
Return to starting position and repeat. Sessions will be conducted three times per week.
All sessions will be monitored by trained personnel to ensure uniform technique

Brief Summary
|
The study aims to assess the comparison of various stretching technique ( such as static, dynamic and PNF stretching of hamstring) on sedentary apparently healthy individuals ( one will be the control group (n= 30) ( will undergo no intervention), one will be the static group ( n= 30), dynamic group ( n= 30) and PNF group (n= 30). The hamstring flexibility will be assessed by non-invasive sit and reach test and straight leg raise test. |
