Brief Summary
|
AIM: To evaluate the effects of anterior oblique sling muscle training on agility, balance and sports performance in amateur badminton players.OBJECTIVES: •To asses agility by modified SEMO agility test •To asses balance by Y balance test . •To assess badminton specific performance. •To evaluate effectiveness of oblique sling muscle training on agility, dynamic balance and sports performance •To compare the changes in agility, dynamic balance and sports performance in both group.
Need of the study: •Badminton, a globally popular sport, requires many skill set to be able to play a good game . These skill set usually include agility, dynamic balance , power and speed. Our body works in a kinematic chain via which the forces are transmitted from upper segment of the body to lower segment, through the functional line. •Strengthening the muscles in these oblique sling, which also form a part of the entire core, might have an influence on the badminton performance, since core muscle strengthening is known to improve agility and dynamic balance . Although these muscles are only a part of the core, training through only oblique muscles is still under question. Badminton involves fast acceleration and deceleration, multiple change in direction and power smashes which might primarily might be controlled by the oblique sling muscles •With this logic in this study, we are going to explore the relationship between oblique sling muscles and agility, dynamic balance and performance in amateur badminton players through an exercise intervention of oblique sling exercises as well as check the improvement in change in agility post.
Hypothesis:
•NULL HYPOTHESIS: there is no improvement in agility, dynamic balance and sports performance post oblique sling exercise intervention as compared to control group. •ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS: •H1: There are better improvement seen in agility , dynamic balance and sports performance post anterior oblique sling exercise intervention, in experimental group •H2: There are better improvement seen in agility , dynamic balance and sports performance post agility drills of badminton in control group •H3: both the group might show similar change on agility , dynamic balance and sports performance in players
Potential subjects will be screened (60)
Random sampling method will be performed
Pre-assessment will be done by modified SEMO agility test, Y balance test and sports performance
Group A- Intervention of oblique sling exercises (n=30) Group B- intervention of core exercises (n=30)
post assessment of the outcomes will be done after 6 weeks of intervention. Statistical analysis and result formation will be done after the treatment phase is completed. |
