Brief Summary
|
Introduction - Physical
activity, involving skeletal muscle movements and energy expenditure, is a
primary treatment for preventing chronic health disorders. Health
professionals, including physiotherapists, require essential competencies in
health promotion and education. Physically active therapists prescribe
structured physical activity, serving as credible role models. Studies indicate
physiotherapists’ physical activity level, emphasizing the need to understand
determinants influencing therapists’ activity levels for effective health
promotion programs.
Justification for study-Physically
active prescribe physical activity (PA) in a more structured form and
frequently promote PA to patients. Evidence reveals that a majority of
physiotherapists do not engage in enough physical activity to meet the adult PA
guidelines. Given the relatively lower levels of PA among physiotherapists in
various countries, there is a pressing need to enhance PA levels for better
exercise prescription quality and effective PA promotion. Identifying
determinants that influence therapists’ physical activity behavior will be
useful for planning strategies to improve their PA levels. By enhancing their
own physical activity, therapists may effectively influence PA behavior among
their patients.
Aim -The aim of the study is to assess the Physical
Activity level and to identify determinants affecting it among Physiotherapists
in Karnataka.
Objectives - 1. To
Assess the level of Physical Activity among physiotherapists in Karnataka.2. To Identify the Determinants associated with the
physical activity level among Physiotherapists in Karnataka.
Methodology - Ethical
clearance obtained from the ethical committee. Participants will be selected based on selection
criteria . Brief introduction will be given
by the therapist to subject explaining the purpose and nature of the
study. Informed
consent will be obtained from the subjects and basic demographic details. A Two Self-Reported Questionnaire Form will
be filled by the subject. The scales will be interpreted.
Data Analysis- Data will be summarized using Descriptive
Analysis.
