Brief Summary   Parkinson’s disease (PD) is an incurable neurodegenerative disease affecting 572 out of 100,000 adults between 50 and 65 years old. Parkinson`s Disease (PD) can cause various symptoms. Early in the course of the disease, the most obvious symptoms are movement-related, including tremors, rigidity, slowness of movement, and difficulty with walking and gait. Quality of Life (QoL) is a multi-dimensional construct consisting of at least three broad domains: physical, mental, and social. (WHO) defined QOL as “an individual’s perception of their position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and about their goals, expectations, standards, and concerns. As such, this disorder can significantly impact patients’ quality of life (QoL). Indeed, as with other chronic diseases, several studies have found that PD patients’ QoL is worse than that of healthy controls. There is evidence that regular medication, therapy, social support, education level, and employment status may influence QoL in PD patients. However, it was unclear if the participants in these studies were exclusively treated at a nursing care center. Therefore, we were interested in identifying if the motor clinical features that have well established associations with QoL – for instance, disease duration, depressive symptoms, and motor symptom severity – would still contribute to QoL. There is growing interest in health-related quality of life (HRQOL) as a comprehensive view of the patient’s well-being, guiding concept for the treating clinician, and therapeutic trial outcome measure for patients with Parkinson’s disease. Preliminary evidence suggests that HRQOL in PD varies by sex, disease stage, and proximity to an urban center. To improve the QOL of PD patients, it is important to completely understand how various QOL domains differ in PD patients and healthy controls and initiate therapeutic plans.
