Brief Summary
|
Pre-Hypertension and Stage 1 Hypertension constitutes an important Public health problem, and Hypertension in adolescents is of growing concern, as they constitute 1/5th of the population of India. Studies have shown that life style modification and non-pharmacological intervention have shown to reduce BP, hence we undertook this cluster Randomized Controlled Trial to estimate the reduction of Blood pressure after an effective life style modification. The study will be conducted in the pre-university college students of age group 16-18 years, with pre hypertension and stage 1 hypertension, over a duration of 6 months, after informed assent, 50 participants in intervention group will be given intervention in the form of pranayama, shavasana, mudras and regular exercises along with consumption of healthy diet and control group will not be give any specific intervention, and follow up will be done. Blood pressure reading at the time of recruitment, after 3 months and 6 months at the completion of trials will be taken, and the results will be analysed using appropriate statistical tests. |
