Patients  (1) ICD-10 Condition: K053||Chronic periodontitis, (2) ICD-10 Condition: E119||Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications,

Intervention / Comparator Agent
Type  Name  Details
Intervention  Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment (NSPT)  Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment (NSPT) typically involves scaling and root planing (SRP) in diabetic patients to remove plaque and calculus from the tooth surfaces, followed by sample collection
Comparator Agent  The comparator could be a control group that receive NSPT but do not have diabetes   The comparison will be between the two groups: Group 1: Periodontitis patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) Group 2: Periodontitis patients without Diabetes Mellitus (Non-DM) So, the comparison is about the effect of NSPT on IL-20 levels in these two groups, rather than comparing different treatments.

Age To  55.00 Year(s)
Gender  Both
Details  1. Both men and women of 35 to 55 years of age.
2. Presence of at least 20 teeth in the oral cavity.
3. Patients belonging to Chhattisgarh state.
4. Patient willing to undergo periodontal treatment procedure.

ExclusionCriteria
Details  1. Participants with any known systemic disease other than diabetes mellitus (type 2).

Method of Generating Random Sequence   Computer generated randomization
Method of Concealment   Pre-numbered or coded identical Containers
Blinding/Masking   Outcome Assessor Blinded
Primary Outcome
Outcome  TimePoints
The study will help us to correlate between variation in
Interleukin-20 levels in periodontitis patients with and without diabetic mellitus (type 2).
Baseline, 6 weeks, 12 weeks

Secondary Outcome
Outcome  TimePoints
Secondary outcome of the study of the study is that non
surgical periodontal treatment (NSPT) will have significant impact on Interleukin-20 levels and
will be well correlated with clinical parameters of periodontal tissue destruction and glycemic
status.

Response - NO
Brief Summary   Hypothesis / Research Question – 1.Whether post non-surgical periodontal treatment (NSPT) has any significant impact on levels of Interleukin-20 in periodontitis patients with and without diabetes mellitus (type 2) ? 2.Whether Interleukin-20 levels can be associated with poor glycemic control and periodontal disease?
