AIM

·         To identify the impact of hypermobility in musculoskeletal system in pre-adolescent children

 

OBECTIVES

General objectives

·         The main focus of this study is to analyse the onset, distribution and extent of musculoskeletal disorders among pre-adolescent children with joint hypermobility.

Specific objectives

·         To identify the prevalence and the factors that associated with joint hypermobility syndrome among pre-adolescent children

·         To develop and validate a musculoskeletal disorder questionnaire to utilise among pre-adolescent children with hypermobility

·         To analyse the relationship between joint hypermobility and musculoskeletal pain among pre-adolescent children

·         To identify the common sites of musculoskeletal pain among preadolescent children with joint hypermobility.





RESEARCH QUESTION

Primary research question

What are the effects of joint hypermobility syndrome in musculoskeletal system of preadolescent children in Moodbidri town, Dakshina Kannada Taluk, Karnataka

 

Research question of individual studies

1.    What is the prevalence and the factors that are associated with joint hypermobility syndrome among pre-adolescent children’s?

2.    Which musculoskeletal questionnaire shall be implemented to identify musculoskeletal issues among pre-adolescent children with joint hypermobility syndrome

3.    Is there any relationship exists between joint hypermobility syndrome and musculoskeletal pain among pre-adolescent children

4.    What are the common sites of musculoskeletal pain among pre-adolescent children with joint hypermobility syndrome

 

To answer these research questions four studies will be performed

1.    Prevalence and factors associated with hypermobility syndrome among pre-adolescent children in Moodbidri town, Dakshina Kannada taluk, Karnataka

2.    Development and validation of a musculoskeletal pain questionnaire to implement among pre-adolescent children in Moodbidri town, Dakshina Kannada taluk, Karnataka

3.    Relationship between joint hypermobility and musculoskeletal pain among pre-adolescent children in Moodbidri town, Dakshina Kannada taluk, Karnataka

4.    Common sites of musculoskeletal pain among pre-adolescent children with hypermobility in Moodbidri town, Dakshina Kannada taluk, Karnataka.
