Patients was selected from I.P.D. of PG Departments of Panchkarma and Kayachikitsa of P.D.Patel Ayurvedic Hospital, Nadiad. Detailed history was taken according to the proforma prepared for the study incorporating all the relevant points from Ayurveda as well as modern medical science. Diagnostic Criteria: Patients already diagnosed to have neuromuscular disorders like, MND, ALS, MS, Hemiplegia, Paraplegia. Having reduced muscle mass especially in the limbs. Treatment Schedule: For first 2 days --> Sarvanga abhyanga (30min) with Bala taila and Sarvanga Bashpa svedana (10min) / Nadi svedana (20min) with Nirgundipatra For next 1 day --> Sarvanga Abhayanga: Bala taila Sarvang Baspa svedana / Nadi svedana with Nirgundipatra Mridu Virechana Karma: Erand Sneha (30-50ml) + Dindayala churna (Haritaki, Sonamukhi, Ajamoda, saindhava) (4-7gm) with Draksha kvatha according to Kostha and Bala of patient. For next 2 days --> Samsarjana Krama For next 1 days --> Sarvanga Abhayanga: Bala taila Sarvang Baspa svedana / Nadi svedana with Nirgundipatra Niruha Basti with Dashamula Kvatha, Madhu, Taila Taila, Putoyavanyadi Kalka and Saindhava For next 25 days --> Sarvanga Abhayanga (30min) with Bala taila Sarvanga Mashapinda Svedana (30min) (Masha + cow milk + Ashvagandha Churna + Balamula Kvatha + water) Anuvasana (Matra) Basti with Bala Taila Shamana Chikitsa 1.Balamula Kvatha 40 ml twice, empty stomach 2.Ashvagandha Churna 3 grams twice with milk 3.Bala Taila 20-30 ml twice with warm water Poorva karma: Abhyanga was done with Bala Taila Taila for 30 min all over the body. Kept the vessel of remaining 500ml of Balamula Kvatha on mild fire to keep it warm. One of the Pinda was to be dipped in Balamula Kvatha of this vessel to keep the Pinda warm. Pradhana karma (Main procedure): Rubbing of the warm Masha Pinda was done gently on the body part having muscle wasting with little pressure. When Pinda loses its warmth, it should be replaced by warm Pinda dipped in Balamula Kvatha. Thus, Pindas should be kept warmed by repeated replacement and rubbing of the warm Masha Pinda on the body part having wasting of the muscles will be continued up to one hour. Care should be taken that the heat of the Pinda is bearable to the patient. Paschat karma: The paste of cooked Masha came out of the Pinda during rubbing should be kept on the body part for next one hour and patient is advised to sit in sun avoiding exposure to wind and cold during this period. After this, patient is advised to take shower with warm water and clean the body The analysis was done using paired "t" test |
